PRE-TREATMENT REMINDERS

NOTES:

• Please arrive to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin.

• During your appointment, we will apply a prescription strength numbing cream containing benzocaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine. If you feel you may have any sort of sensitivity or allergy to drugs in the "caine" family, a patch test for prescription strength numbing cream is available prior to receiving treatment. A patch test must be completed at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. If desired, please contact us as soon as possible to schedule this.

2 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT:

• Avoid tanning outdoors or in a tanning bed, or any type of prolonged sun exposure

• Avoid any type of laser hair removal on the area to be treated

• Avoid receiving any type of Botox or dermal filler treatment

1 WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT:

• Avoid any type of facial waxing

48 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT:

• Discontinue use of prescription keratolytics/vitamin A topicals

• Discontinue use of non-prescription keratolytics/vitamin A topicals

• Discontinue use of AHA/BHA-based products

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Advanced microneedling treatments are a safe and effective way to build collagen and improve the tone, texture, and function of the skin. However, there are a few contraindications for receiving microneedling treatments. Please review this list to ensure you are free from conditions that would prevent you from receiving a microneedling service, and contact us if you have any specific questions prior to your appointment.

Precautions and Conditional Contraindications:

• History of herpes simplex (anti-viral medication must be taken 24 hours prior to receiving treatment)

• Active acne breakout with pustules (mild breakout without pustules may be treated, pending consultation)

• History of eczema, psoriasis or other chronic skin conditions on treatment area

• Presence of large number of raised moles, warts, or raised lesions on treatment area (infrequent lesions can be avoided during treatment)

• Brand new scar tissue (wounds with scarring must heal for 6 months before treating)

• Open wounds on treatment area (minor wounds can be avoided during treatment)

Absolute Contraindications:

• Use of Accutane (must be off for a minimum of 6 months prior to treatment)

• Current use of hydrocortisone on treatment area

• Active bacterial or fungal infection

• Scleroderma

• Visible redness, irritation, or inflammation

• Active cold sores or facial rash

• Active rosacea flare-ups

• Abnormal lesions

• Current treatment for serious medical condition (doctor’s note required)

• Autoimmune disease (doctor’s note required)

• Medications for diabetes, Lupus, or chemotherapy treatments

• History/presence of keloids or hypertrophic scarring

• Frequent use of tanning beds or frequent sun exposure

• Any infectious disease

• Pregnant or lactating (safe treatments are available during pregnancy; please discuss these options with your service provider prior to your scheduled appointment)

POST-TREATMENT SKINCARE REGIMEN

DAY OF PROCEDURE:

We will provide you with a post-treatment kit to help care for your skin in the days following your appointment. When you return home, place your sheet mask in the refrigerator to cool.

We will apply potent topical serums to your skin the day of your procedure. Leave these on until you wash your face in the evening. Do not apply makeup or sunscreen the day of your procedure, and stay out of the sun.

In the evening, gently cleanse your skin with tepid water and a microfiber washcloth, using the cleanser in your post-procedure kit. Remove the bio-molecular sheet mask from the refrigerator, apply to your face, and leave on for a minimum of 10-20 minutes. This specialized mask will instantly hydrate, calm, and feed your newly treated skin with potent peptides, botanical stem cells, and collagen. Finish by applying the skincare products in your post-procedure kit as directed.

* We recommend you sleep elevated for the first 1-3 nights to avoid fluids pooling in your eye area at night, which can cause puffiness. If needed, you may take an antihistamine such as Zyrtec or Claritin to help reduce any skin puffiness.

DAYS 1-3 POST-PROCEDURE:

Wash and apply skincare products as directed in your post-procedure kit. Be sure to apply sunscreen beginning on Day 1, and avoid direct sun exposure. You may also wear makeup beginning on Day 1. Avoid all active topicals and chemical-based or fragranced cosmetics, skincare products, or makeup.

DAYS 4-7 POST-PROCEDURE: 

Continue to wash and apply skincare products as directed in your post-procedure kit. Be sure to apply sunscreen, and avoid direct sun exposure. During this period, you will likely notice some mild skin dryness and/or possible skin crusting or flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Do not scrub or pick at flaking skin. Allow it to shed naturally.

Once skin has returned to normal, you may resume your regular prescribed skincare regimen. Schedule your next advanced microneedling appointment for 4-6 weeks from today's procedure.

HOME MAINTENANCE:

We recommend utilizing our Microneedling Homecare System 1-2x per week to help increase and maintain your best results between sessions. This kit is available for purchase at a discount on the day of your procedure, or during your treatment series. Consistency with your home maintenance routine will greatly increase the absorption of potent topical ingredients into your skin, and it will help optimize and ramp your overall treatment results even further.

POST-PROCEDURE EXPECTATIONS

1 - Minor warmth, edema, tightness, redness, and sensitivity are commonly experienced the day of treatment, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn.

2 - If needed, an antihistamine such as Zyrtec or Claritin may be taken to help reduce any puffiness caused by a histamine reaction. If present, puffiness is typically most noticeable in the under-eye area.

3 - Quick and significant recovery typically occurs within 24 hours.

4 - Temporary redness/splotchiness, puffiness, and/or tightness may exist for 1-3 days post-procedure.

5 - "Pinpoint" micro-bruising may appear around bony areas (such as the eye area or forehead), and may exist for 3-4 days. This can easily be covered with makeup.

6 - "Pinpoint" crusting or light flaking/exfoliation may occur after 3 days post-procedure. This should not be scrubbed or picked, and will shed naturally.

7 - Skin will completely return to normal within 7-10 days.

8 - During the healing phase, any residual skin imperfections can be covered with makeup.

POSSIBLE SHORT-TERM SIDE EFFECTS

In the event of an unusual or adverse reaction, please contact us immediately.

Possible side effects:
- Erythema (redness, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn)
- Skin tightness or dryness
- Minor flaking or exfoliation
- Mild sensitivity (stinging or itching sensations)
- Edema (swelling or puffiness)
- Temporary cutaneous eruptions

Extremely rare side effects (we have never seen any of these situations occur):
- Hyperpigmentation or darkening of the skin
- Allergic reaction
- Infection

TREATMENT BENEFITS & FREQUENCY

TO ACHIEVE BEST RESULTS: In order to maximize your microneedling results, we recommend undergoing a series of four to six procedures spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Some like to make this their treatment of choice year round. The process of "layering" treatments will greatly compound the remodeling processes that are occurring in your skin, which will compound your results.

In between sessions, we also recommend using our surgical-grade microneedling kit 1-3x per week at home with our advanced peptide serum. This will help ramp the results from your services, and will help maintain your beautiful outcomes over time. This kit can be used year round (even when not undergoing a treatment program), and will help to effectively penetrate any topical serum more deeply into the skin.

TO MAINTAIN RESULTS: When not undergoing an active treatment program, we recommend facial treatments every 4-6 weeks in addition to following a simple, prescribed home maintenance skincare program. CANCELLATION POLICY

In order to accommodate last-minute changes to our schedule, we kindly ask that you provide at least a 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be assessed a 25% cancellation fee. Thank you for your understanding .
